About Me
Hello everyone, I’m Richard. I’m a marketing copywriter and a literature fan.
Back in 2010, with help from a charity called ROX Music and Arts, I started organising Chilled Shakespeare – open readings of Shakespeare in a local pub.
It was a selfish idea. I set it up because I wanted to learn from the best, and improve my own writing. Shakespeare was a writer who could appeal to the full spectrum of society, and he was a very successful businessman with a royal charter. I wanted to know more but I always found it hard to sit down and read a play on my own.
I didn’t know if anyone would show up, or even if I’d enjoy it. All these years later, it’s still going on. I’ve learnt a lot about Shakespeare, about organising and promoting local events. I’ve also had a lot of fun and learnt a lot about life too.
This is my webpage, and personal blog mostly about literature, Shakespeare and early modern drama from the perspective of reading in groups down the pub.
